Answer (if applicable), otherwise, the caller will receive a
message saying the party is unavailable.

How will I know if Internet Call
Waiting is active?
The Internet Call Waiting (ICW) software automatically starts
when you turn on the PC.
A splash screen appears as the PC is booting up. The ICW
software runs in the background while you perform other tasks on
the PC. ICW service is not activated until you log in to the
Internet. An icon of the ICW software appears in the status area
of the taskbar.
The ICW software checks the system for Internet activity. When
you connect to the Internet, the ICW software detects the activity
and automatically sends an activation message to the ICW server.
When activation is successful, the main native interface window
confirms that ICW is active.

the pull-down menu on the right side of your pop-up window to

the "Message" button.
If you select I'll call you back on your pop-up window, your
caller will hear this message:
"The person you are trying to reach is unavailable at the
moment. They will call you back as soon as possible."
If you select Call me back later on your pop-up window, the
caller will hear this message:
"We're sorry. The person you are trying to reach is
unavailable at the moment. Please try again later."

The Internet Call Waiting window pops-up on your screen on top
of the other active windows.
If my line is busy, and I am not on the
Internet, what would happen?
If you subscribe to Call Answer service or voicemail, the call
will be forwarded to this service.
If you do not subscribe to Call Answer or voicemail, the caller
will hear a busy signal.
If you have Call Waiting on your line, you will still hear the
tone as usual.
For the person calling in, what would they
hear?
When a caller phones in and you are on the Internet, they will
hear ringing as usual.
The next thing that the caller will hear depends upon which
option you select:
- Answer - you will be disconnected from the Internet,
your telephone will ring and you will be able to take the
call.
- Forward - Voice Mail - the caller will hear your Call
Answer or voicemail greeting.
- Forward - Second Line - the call will be forwarded to
your pre-defined forward number.
- Message - the caller will hear the message that you
selected; then the call will hang up.

message after 4 rings:
"We're sorry. The person you are trying to reach is
unavailable at the moment. Please try again later."
Can I have my own message played for
the caller?
No. If you wish to customize the message the caller hears,
subscribe to Call Answer or voicemail, and forward the call to
this service.
Will all incoming numbers be displayed
on Internet Call Waiting?
No. The same rules that applies for regular Call Display also
applies for Internet Call Waiting.

displayed, "private number" will be displayed on
Internet Call Waiting just as it would on Call Display.
What are the actual messages that
get sent to callers if the ICW subscriber chooses the "I'll
call you back" or "Call me back later" options?
The I'll call you back option would say:
"The person you are trying to reach is unavailable at the
moment. They will call you back as soon as possible."
The Call me back later option would say:
"We're sorry. The person you are trying to reach is
unavailable at the moment. Please try again later."
I have the Call Answer
feature on my telephone line. Why would the "Forward
to voice mail" option not be available to me?
In your subscription, you've been asked to add this
information to your Internet Call Waiting profile.
If I have a MacIntosh computer, can
I use Internet Call Waiting?
Currently, Internet Call Waiting runs on Windows 95,
Windows 98 and Windows NT. No version for MacIntosh
operating system is planned to be available at the moment.
Do I need Call Waiting service on my
line for Internet Call Waiting to work?
No. Internet Call Waiting does not require that you
subscribe to Call Waiting. In fact, if you have Call
Waiting, you must turn it off when you access the
Internet.
Internet Call Waiting is active,
but when people call me, they get sent to Call Answer and
I don't get notified of the incoming call. What should I
do?
If you subscribe to Call Waiting, you must turn it off
when you connect to the Internet.
Call Waiting will play a tone for you when you are on
the phone and a second party is trying to call you. When
you are using your phone line to access the Internet, this
tone can disrupt your session. This is a well known
conflict with Call Waiting. Most dialers that are used to
access the Internet have a setting that will automatically
turn off Call Waiting when you access the Internet.
If your dialer has this setting, you must use it to
turn Call Waiting off. If your dialer does not have this
setting, you must change the phone number field in your
dialer to include "*70,". For example, if
the telephone number that you dial to connect to the
Internet is:
change it to:
NOTE: The comma is important. When included it
gives time for your telephone system to turn off Call
Waiting before it connects you to the Internet.
Why don't I get notified with a
tone when Internet Call Waiting handles an incoming call?
If you have speakers, ensure that they are powered,
turned on and the volume is turned up. You can also check
with your supplier to ensure that your computer is set up
properly.
Internet Call Waiting uses the default sound to notify
you when it is handling an incoming call.
If you do not have external speakers on your computer,
the default sound will probably be a "beep".
If you have external speakers, the default sound can be
set to a variety of sounds. To determine the current
setting of your default sound, or to change your default
sound:
- From the task bar, click the Start button,
point to Settings, then point to Control Panel;
- Double click on the Sounds icon;
- In the Event box, select "Default Sound"
in the Windows section;
- Look in the Sound box. The Name field
contains the name of the default sound. Use the Preview
keys to play the sound, or the Browse key to
change the sound;
- Be sure to hit the OK button to save any
changes that you make.
'When I get an incoming call
while on the Internet, Internet Call Waiting shows that
the Forward to Voice Mail button is available, but I do
not have Call Answer nor Voice Mail. Why is this?

have selected that you have Call Answer when you do not
have it.
